I had some adventures on Ko Samui, but on Ko Tao I just adapted really fast, which means, I'm not doing anyting ;-)
I was for the weekend on Ko Samui in this beautiful resort Shambalaa on Big Buddha Beach. A relatively quiet place on the north of Ko Samui. We had booked a guesthouse in advance, not really backpacker a-like, but allowed, as we arrived at 22h in the evening and guesthouses around that time are hard to find. We were so lucky! We had a cottage on the beach!!! Jippie! Just imagine lying in your bed during night and nothing to hear besides the sea (and some nuts hitting the roof all night, falling out of the tree). In the morning sitting outside on our veranda, taking breakfast, view on the see and some locals on the beach. Wow! Unfortunately the weather wasn't that good, so we decided to rent a jeep and drove around the island, visiting some waterfalls. According to the Lonely Planet there is a road climbing up a waterfall (80 m high) with fantastic view on the island and sea. We couldn't find the road and decided to make one ourselves... Off the beaten track! This was hard, wearing flip-flops (stupid....), hardly any drinking water and no idea where to go. In the end we heard some water and reached a small waterfall, at least something. As I was enjoying the fact that hardly any people can find this spot, Jacco started to climb up the waterfall. We saw something moving.... and a big sign saying Ola (the ice cream brand!). People with strange and surprised faces turned around as we arrived from the other side of the waterfall, where they took the path we couldn't find :-D
At least we had fun! Luckily we found the path and could climb up the 80m waterfall, which was an extreme hike as well on flipflops but the view was worth it!
That night we picked up Taylor from the airport and I got my 2nd adventure of the day. I lost my cellphone in the taxi... Oops! We tried to call several times, but no one was picking up, so I called my parents to de-activate my simcard. For one moment I felt angry and sad, but realized that I couldn't change things so I didn't want it to spoil my evening or trip (the only thing I had influence on) and I amazed myself by staying so cool like I didn't care. We tried one more time and then this lady was picking up saying that we had to come to her supermarket. She found my phone outside the taxi in front of her shop and returned without any hessle. She didn't even wanted a reward for it. I was stunned! Taylor bought some beers and we drank them in front of the shop, absolutely the best beer I had in years ;-)
Afterwards we bought some drinks, the guys wanted slurpies, which looks like the hubba-bubba bubble gum (nice pink!) and we went to the beach. We watched the sea, stars and beach, I had some slurpy-guys next to me and was enjoying big time!
Sunday was a lazy day for the 3 of us. We slept really long, I scratched the whole day (I counted already over 60 moscito bites on both my legs, not even mentioning my arms here!) and we walked along the beach side, talked. In the evening Jacco went home and Taylor and me made plans for the following weeks. We both wanted to leave Ko Samui as it is way too touristic for us. Monday early afternoon we left for Ko Tao, a boattrip of 2 hours. Ko Tao is wonderfull, or at least Sairee Beach, where we are right now. Again complete different tourists here than all the other places I have vistited. Mostly youngsters, dressing up a little, spending their time here for diving, lounging and relaxing on the beach. We found an excellent guesthouse where we have a fridge inside with minibar. The Heineken beers inside the fridge appeared to be very helpfull. As it was so hot on Monday in our room, Taylor had the idea to use them for cooling down. Not by drinking, but by rolling it over our bodies and so we did :-D
I just love beer!!!!!
Tuesday was a day of swimming in the bright blue sea, sunbathing on the beach and simply relaxing and enjoying life! Yesterday was completely different in fact of weather (the whole day huge showers!) but still we relaxed and enjoyed. At this moment Taylor is diving and I'm enjoying this morning on my own, doing girlstuff and walking around.
We have no idea how long we're going to stay on Ko Tao, the plan is that we are going to check out Ko Pagnan as well. But when... We'll see!
Big hug from the bounty babe (which is me of course) :-D

Zie nou wel dat Heineken overal goed voor is. En wat die waterval betreft had je ook wel kunnen verwachten als je op pad gaat met Jacco "Off the beaten track" Vosselman :D
Veel plezier nog en tot volgende week -
